Four Natural Ways To Stop Deadly DNA Damage

You don’t smoke, you exercise regularly and you eat a balanced diet of fresh, whole foods. But unfortunately, even the healthiest habits aren’t foolproof. That’s why you’ll be relieved to hear that nature offers an arsenal of safe, powerful compounds that are scientifically proven to pack a protective punch against mutagenic problems—whether you have a family history or simply want to act proactively by supporting cellular health.

D-glucarate is just one example of a powerful, anti-mutagenic compound: Derived from fruits and vegetables, this naturally occurring chemical helps cellular enzymes bind to harmful compounds so that they can be eliminated from your body before they cause damage to your DNA—all within just five hours of supplementation. As a result, studies indicate that d-glucarate can support the health of the lung, breast, prostate and colon—while reducing abnormal cell proliferation, which may contribute to the growth of existing tumors.

Green tea is another well-known health-booster, rich in a number of polyphenol antioxidants. But it’s one of these polyphenols in particular—epigallocatechin-3-gallate, better known as EGCG—that’s responsible for green tea’s cell-protecting properties. Studies show that EGCG tricks abnormal cells into undergoing apoptosis (programmed cell death), while reducing your body’s levels of mutation-promoting enzymes. And EGCG can target abnormally transformed cells specifically, leaving healthy cells unharmed.

Ellagic acid is another polyphenolic compound with powerful properties. Abundant in brightly colored fruits like raspberries, strawberries and pomegranates, ellagic acid is a potent natural detoxifier, able to block the activation of a number of mutation-promoting chemicals—including polycyclic hydrocarbons, nitrites, and aflatoxins—and it scavenges and promotes the elimination of these deadly carcinogens from your body.

When taken twice a day, each of these powerful natural substances can help to sustain cellular health, regardless of whether your family or personal history has stacked the cards against you or you simply want extra anti-mutagenic support

Many studies have documented the neuro-protective and chemo-preventative properties of various nutritional compounds in models of brain injury.

In one study, a combination of vitamin E and l-carnitine helped diminish the brain damaging effects of radiation.
Another study demonstrated how omega-3 fatty acids helped reduce the severity of traumatic brain injury by normalizing various compromised neuronal protective mechanisms.
And finally, after traumatic brain injury, energy production of the brain is many times compromised. Supplemental curcumin, was shown to help restore energy homeostasis in models of brain trauma.

Corvalen® D-Ribose 3-week study.

A new, multicenter study verified that Corvalen D-ribose is an effective treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Fibromyalgia (FMS).

53 health practitioners enrolled 257 patients who had been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. They were given D-ribose, a naturally occurring pentose carbohydrate, at a dose of 5-g TID for 3 weeks.

All patients were assessed at baseline (one week before treatment was begun) and after 1, 2, & 3 weeks of treatment using a Visual Analog Scale (of 1-7 points) rating energy, sleep, cognitive function, pain and overall well-being.

Improvement in the first week.

203 patients completed the 3 week treatment trial. The results showed statistically significant improvement in all 5 parameters after 3 weeks of D-ribose treatment (p < .0001).

New hope for new treatment.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia have been historically difficult to define and notoriously difficult to treat. Only recently has this condition been given the attention it deserves. The findings of this study give hope that soon, D-ribose will become part of an efficacious, well-accepted course of treatment.
